The influenza pandemic is spreading nationwide, with an estimated 340,000-plus patients visiting medical facilities during the week ending March 8, nearly double the number of the previous week.
According to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, the number of influenza patients reported from approximately 5,000 medical institutions nationwide during the week ending January 8 totaled 44,673, more than 20,000 more than the previous week.
Generally, the waiting period for influenza is said to be 1-4 days, so if you travel to Japan for 6 days, there is a possibility that you may develop the disease during your trip.
Also, please note that influenza is not an exclusively Japanese disease, so if you were infected before your trip, you may develop symptoms such as fever from the first day.
